This Town’s Got Oil

Before making a level look super polished and pretty. We start with a ‘Whitebox’ or ‘Greybox’ (depending on the studio), an extremely simple terrain is built where you run around in, figuring out the placement of props and the size of the level for pacing, before it’s sent to the art department. I decided to have a go with Google’s SketchUp software and built a simple Team Deathmatch map, built around a team protecting a heavily defended area from the attacking team. I put in loads of places to hide and poke your head through to increase the chance of stealth kills and ambushes.
